FROM THE BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW TO THE MOTOR VALLEY –
THE MOTOR SHOW TOURS
From 4 to 8 December 2009, the “Special Edition” of the Bologna Motor Show, set to be held at BolognaFiere, will be the beating heart of the Emilia Romagna Motor Valley: the Show, with its focus on motor sport and entertainment, will be the first stage in a tour through the region’s centres of motoring excellence.
Thanks to the partnership between Promotor International and the Emilia-Romagna Tourist Board (APT), December 4-9 will see the staging of six exclusive tours through the Motor Valley (five during the Motor Show itself and one the day after the end of the Show), which will make it possible to visit the region’s collections and museums in the company of those who are involved in the world of motoring, day in, day out: design engineers, racing team members, corporate designers, drivers and collectors.
The trip across the Motor Valley will take a number of different routes, designed to satisfy the thirst of different types of fans, from sports lovers to technicians and collectors.
The scheduled routes are described below:
Friday 4 December: "Racing Motors" Tour
In the morning, there will be a guided tour of the Ducati Museum and Factory, ending up at the Ducati Auditorium, where an engineer from the Borgo Panigale race team will explain the world of Moto GP as seen from the boxes. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a visit to the Galleria Ferrari, finishing off the day at the Galleria's "semi cycle", where the world of Formula 1 will be analysed.
Saturday 5 December: "Speed Cars" Tour
An exclusive visit to the legendary Dallara Automobili racing car factory, escorted by the company’s engineers, who will illustrate how racing cars are designed and manufactured. In the afternoon, you will visit the famous Galleria Ferrari.
Sunday 6 December: "Cars and Flavours" Tour
In the morning, there will be a visit to the Salsapariglia motorcycling collection – one of the most comprehensive and most celebrated in all of Italy. Afterwards, you will visit a dairy to discover how Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is produced, complete with tastings. You will then enjoy lunch in an authentic local restaurant before heading for San Martino in Rio for a visit to the San Martino in Rio Automobile Museum, which will come to a close with a tasting of highly prized Emilian wines within the Museum.
Monday 7 December: "Rapid Romagna" Tour
Once we have reached the Romagna, in the morning you will go on a guided tour of the Maranello Rosso Museums. This facility, located in the Republic of San Marino, plays host to two collections: one of the world’s finest collections of Ferraris and the largest Abarth Museum of all (officially recognised by the Fiat group). After a typical Romagnolo lunch, the afternoon will be taken up with a visit to the fascinating National Motorcycle Museum in the company of bike experts.
Tuesday 8 December: The "Great Car Collections" Tour
In a single, all-Emilian day, you will visit three of the finest collections of Italian cars in the company of those who have put them together: the Panini Collection, the Stanguellini Collection and the Righini Collection.
Wednesday 9 December: "Motor Design" Tour
In the morning, you will go on a tour of the Bimota motorcycling factory, where the guides will focus specifically on design. In the afternoon, you will visit the Lamborghini Museum; towards the end of the day, you will meet a designer from the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory, who will explain how the shape of a Lamborghini is designed.
